Connect2Teach’s mission is to build the world’s largest, most credible and diverse knowledge network. A major tenet of this is transparency about the data we collect and how we use and share it.

By using our services, you consent to our gather and use of your data under this policy document. This Privacy Policy applies to connect2teach.com (“Platform”).

Introduction

Our registered users share their professional details, areas of expertise, teaching preferences and teaching opportunities posted by other users. This information is shared with other users on the Platform. Some of this content is available to visitors to the Platform.

By using our Services, you consent to the collection, use and sharing of your personal data under this Privacy Policy. We provide you choices that allow you to opt-out or control how we use and share your data. You can review and change your privacy settings by logging in and going to the settings page.

We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. We will provide notice of material changes through our Platform and over email. If you object to any changes, you may delete or deactivate your account at any time.

Activities related and necessary for providing you with teaching opportunities or fulfilling opportunities posted by you including curation, matching, communication with and amongst users and between users and platform along with deliverables, payment and feedback.

Collected Information

You are not obligated to provide information beyond what is required to deliver core services; however complete information helps make the platform more relevant and useful for you.

At the time of registration, you provide data including your name, email address and/or mobile number, title, department, areas of expertise, cities of interest, institution name, location and type of work. If you are registering to post a requirement, you also provide details such as type of requirement, audience and brief description. You also provide payment related information for making and receiving payments (e.g., stripe account, bank account) along with unique tax identification details for you/ your institution, if available.

To build your teaching profile, you provide additional information such as your education, work experience, achievements, photo, teaching preferences about the kind of opportunities you’d like to take up and specific questions to demonstrate thought leadership. This information helps us match you to the right opportunities to teach and demonstrate your expertise.

To post a teaching opportunity, you provide details about the opportunity including type, duration, payment and contract; along with requirements from prospect in terms of skills, educational qualification, and work experience.

We collect personal data when you post a form such as ‘Contact Us’ or provide feedback to any other user on the Platform.

Other Sources

Users and visitors on the platform may refer the platform to others that they think might wish to join the platform. This contains their name, email address and phone. This information will be saved against your profile. The user agrees and undertakes that they have the requisite authority/ permission to submit such information.

We collect and use information including but not limited to ID, name, email, headline, industry, picture, public profile, positions, summary and number of connections from third party sources such as LinkedIn. You can choose to opt-out from this; however, doing so, reduces your profile completeness and may have an impact on the teaching opportunities you receive.

We log usage data when you visit our platform or perform a search relating to us. We track log-ins, location, and internet protocol (“IP”) addresses to identify you and log your use.

We collect information about when you send or receive messages from users registered on the platform through our messaging system and also when you interact with their profiles or posted opportunities to help deliver the core services.

A user may provide information about other employees or on the contracts with the prospect of signing up on the platform to teach or carry out administrative tasks such as payment, feedback, approvals.

There may be changes to the information we collect, for example on introduction of new features. We’ll notify you of significant change and you’ll have the option to opt-in.

Information Usage

We use your data to provide you the services you may have registered for: When you register on the platform, we use your data to (1) Curate your profile for qualification to be on our platform using our proprietary algorithm; (2) Match your profile with teaching opportunities or your requirements with profiles of experts using our proprietary algorithm; (3) Display your profile or requirements to both users as well as visitors. (4) Establish communication including exchange of information, calls, payment, contract negotiations and supplier compliance; (5) Managing deliverables post the teaching assignment such as teaching deliverables, payment & feedback; (6) Sharing your profile or requirements for marketing campaigns.

Purchasing a subscription enables you to invite multiple experts for different opportunities as well as nominate experts from your institution to teach at various opportunities. We use your information as well as that of the users you nominate to teach or invite experts as outlined in the preceding section.

We will also use your data to track and manage the status of your subscription, expert nominations & requirements posted.

As set out in our terms of use and for the purposes set out in those terms of use we may transfer data to our associated entity Connect2Teach India [please set out full details – registered name and number, place of incorporation] (“CT2 India”). We require C2T India to follow rules to respect the security of your personal data and to treat it in accordance with the law and this Privacy Policy. We can contact you through email, contact phone number as provided by you and notices on the platform among others including messages and notifications. We will send you messages about the available teaching opportunities, about suitable experts for your posted requirements and about experts you have nominated from your organization to teach. We also send messages about reminders, suggestions and promotional messages. You may change certain communication preferences at any time. However, you cannot opt out of any core service related messages from us, including security and legal notices.

We use data and content about users for communications and campaigns intended for promotion of the platform and business growth only.

We use your data including communications for investigating, responding to and resolving any complaints or service related issues.

We use data including communications, recommendations and feedback for further development of our service, including introduction of new features, providing personalized experience, business growth and to provide users with better economic opportunities.

We also use your data to perform analysis for business as well as for platform development requirements.

When you take action through the Platform on social media (such as sharing a posted opportunity), we will associate you with the content.

We use your data including communications for investigating any breaches of Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.

Information Sharing

We will never sell your personal data. We will not share your personal data with any third parties without your prior consent (which you are free to withhold) except where required to do so by law or as set out in the section above or to third parties who are service providers, agents and subcontractors to us for the purposes of completing tasks and providing services to you on our behalf (e.g. to print newsletters and send you mailings).

Your profile is fully visible to any user on the platform. It’s also visible to visitors or users of third- party search engines but you can choose to control the visibility to visitors if you choose to do so. We share this information as outlined in the usage section above.

Details of your posted opportunities are visible to any user on the platform. It is also partially visible to visitors to the platform. We share this information as outlined in the usage section above.

We share information regarding your votes and messages with the concerned user you had targeted the vote or message to.

We may need to share your information with competent legal authorities as required by law.

Information Control

We will hold your personal data on our systems for as long as you are a member of the Platform and for as long afterwards as is necessary to comply with our legal obligations. We retain your personal data while your account is in existence even if you’re not actively using the platform. We will review your personal data every year to establish whether we are still entitled to process it. If we decide that we are not entitled to do so, we will stop processing your personal data except that we will retain your personal data in an archived form in order to be able to comply with future legal obligations e.g. compliance with tax requirements and exemptions, and the establishment exercise or defense of legal claims. We securely destroy all financial information once we have used it and no longer need it.

We provide you choices that allow you to opt-out or control how we use and share your data along with certain communication preferences. You can edit your profile to make sure your information is accurate.

You may deactivate your account, which would preclude you from any of our core services including teaching opportunities or posting requirements for experts. We will retain all your data till you decide to close your account.

You may close your account and ask us to remove your personal information, however, we may retain data generated from your use of the “platform” as well as data provided by you as required for legitimate business interests, compliance and legal obligations.

Other Information

Connect2Teach, which is based out of UK will be the data controller for users.

We implement standard safeguards such as HTTPS, to ensure the safety of your data and constantly monitor for any vulnerabilities. We have implemented generally accepted standards of technology and operational security, such as HTTPS, in order to protect personal data from loss, misuse, or unauthorized alteration or destruction. Please note however that where you are transmitting information to us over the internet this can never be guaranteed to be 100% secure. For any payments which we take from you online, we will use a recognized online secure payment system. We will notify you promptly in the event of any breach of your personal data which might expose you to serious risk.

We will collect and use your personal data only if we have a lawful basis for doing so including consent, contractual obligations and legitimate interest.

You have rights under the GDPR: (a) to access your personal data; (b) to be provided with information about how your personal data is processed; (c) to have your personal data corrected; (d) to have your personal data erased in certain circumstances; (e) to object to or restrict how your personal data is processed; (f) to have your personal data transferred to yourself or to another business in certain circumstances.
